Areas of Expertise & Interest
Taking the first step to get help is often the hardest step. I appreciate the courage my clients demonstrate to make that first contact, and strive to ease them into the therapy process. By engaging and taking an active role in understanding the issues and concerns of my clients, I help identify treatment goals. I create a comfortable, non-judgmental, and nurturing environment in which to work with clients. I also believe in adjusting treatment therapies to meet my client’s needs on an individual basis.
Having a strong interest in helping families, trauma victims, and individuals with OCD and anxiety, I received my Master’s degree from National-Louis University in Community Counseling. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, I continued my education by earning a certificate in Parent Coaching for parents of struggling adolescents and young adults, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma. I have also completed the Behavior Therapy Training Institute’s (BTTI) highest level of training endorsed by the International OCD Foundation, of which I am a member in good standing.
I specialize in OCD, anxiety disorders, phobias, trauma, parenting/family
conflict, stress management, relationship issues, self-esteem, and adjustment issues.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, exercising, playing poker with my girlfriends and spending time with my family.
Using a diverse range of therapies depending on the client’s needs, I work collaboratively with them to devise an appropriate treatment plan with measurable goals to improve successful outcomes. This may include Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), a unique therapy that is especially effective in treating trauma. I am also highly experienced in using CBT and ERP.
