Each of our lives travel a unique journey filled with experiences that write our personal story. While capable of bringing immeasurable joy, life may also not always provide us with the lasting happiness we desire. In our lives we will encounter pain, losses, suffering and struggles, realities of life over which we have little control. As human beings, pain is part of the fabric of our human condition.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). I received my Master of Science in Psychology at the University of Buenos Aires. I spent many years at Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4) as a Clinical Director for Adult Outpatient Services. Several years ago, I decided to dedicate myself entirely to be a psychotherapist and became part of a group private practice in Chicago’s north side. I am happy to join the Glenview Counseling Group. I integrate Mindfulness in my clinical practice and apply cultural competency in treatment.

My experience is in trauma, life transitions, grief, loss, women’s issues, relationships, depression and anxiety with adults and young adults. I am originally from Argentina, making me bilingual and bicultural. I am fluent in Spanish and English offering therapy to both Spanish and English speakers. I have extensive experience working with individuals and couples. I specialize in Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) models to advance the healing process utilizing a compassionate and personal approach unique to each individual.

When I am not working, I love to spend time meditating, reading, exercising, walking in nature and spending time with my family.

SUSAN KOGAN, LCPC

In the presence of difficulties, we often tend to look for ways to pull away from the intensity of our feelings. When we do so, we are also pulling away from ourselves and from others. The willingness to stay mindfully present, when we face emotional pain, is the key to healing. My aim is to guide you to be more aware, more often. By bringing the entire range of thoughts and feelings into awareness, we can access new ways to overcome challenges.

Research shows that the relationship with the therapist is the strongest variable affecting a positive therapy outcome. As your therapist I am committed to listen deeply and provide a supportive and nurturing space of mutual respect and trust. Together we will create a safe space to walk the journey of your healing together.
