Treatment Philosophy

Sometimes life can be overwhelming- whether we are held back by our past, experiencing present obstacles, or anxious about things to come. I view therapy as a collaborative relationship between therapist and client, and value creating a safe and nonjudgmental environment. Whether working with older adolescents, adults or with couples, I am passionate about supporting others in overcoming life’s difficulties and reaching their goals.

My goal as a therapist is to support clients in restoring a sense of hope and positive self-worth. Everyone has the capacity for personal growth within them. My job is to help clients identify and access resources they have in order to achieve this.

  • I enjoy integrating techniques from several theories of psychotherapy to meet the unique needs of each individual or couple I work with. Some of the theories I draw from include solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. Additionally, in my work with clients I am mindful of the ways in which social identities (gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.) impact the way we navigate mental health journeys and the world in general. I enjoy working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, mood regulation, and stressful life adjustments.

When working with couples, I strive to help my clients better understand themselves and one another in order to facilitate real changes and build healthy and meaningful relationships.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, exercising, cooking, reading, and brushing up on my Spanish.

  • I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I earned my BS in Clinical/ Community Psychology and my MS in Mental Health Counseling. I have experience working with individual clients from late adolescence through different phases of adulthood.

I am also passionate about working with couples. I have completed postgraduate couples therapy training from the Gottman Institute and use the Gottman method in my work with couples.
